Mary Frances Graves (Fran), resident of Richland, Mississippi, passed away on November 17, 2010 at her home in Richland. Visitation will be held 10am. Friday Nov. 19, 2010 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland. Funeral Services are 11am. Friday Nov. 19, 2010 at the funeral home with interment following in the Lakewood Memorial Park South.
A lifelong resident of Richland, Fran was born on the property that she continued to call home throughout her life. Fran was loved and admired by the community that she served so selflessly. You might have seen Fran around Richland, volunteering her time as Secretary of the AARP, President of the Richland Dance Club, Secretary of Eastern Star, or her numerous rolls with the Lions Club. Fran was the first female President of the Lions Club from 1998-1999. As the widow of a Pearl Harbor survivor and WWII veteran, Fran was especially supportive of the VFW and served in many roles with that organization, including President. She believed and understood that “Freedom is Not Free,” and always lent a helping hand to our Veterans.
Her survivors are her sister, Edna Pearson, and nieces and nephews including Mary Ann Swindull, Marble Hill, GA; Cheryl Daniel, Richland, MS; Cynthia Byrd, Gulfport, MS; Billy Matthews, Sunman, IN; Pam Chatham, Madison, MS; Justin Simpson, Baltimore, MD; Shelby Jean Inkster, Ridgeland, MS; Carol Essary, Corinth, MS; Kathy Johnson, Moulton, AL; Johnny Graves, Rienzi, MS; Diana Weathers, Rienzi, MS; Michael Graves, Rienzi, MS; as well as many Great-nieces and Great-nephews.
