Mary C. Rhodes, age 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 19, 2023, in Brandon, MS. She was born on April 29, 1935, in Rayville, LA to the late Chester and Etta Carter.
Known for her warm smile and kind heart, Mary touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her presence was like a ray of sunshine in the darkest of days. She brought joy and laughter wherever she went and made lasting connections with people from all walks of life.
Mary had a passion for arts and crafts that fueled her creative spirit. She dedicated countless hours to making ceramics and earrings with meticulous attention to detail. Her talent shone through every piece she created.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her husband of 64 years, J.W. Rhodes, stood beside her through thick and thin, providing unwavering support and boundless love. Their love story was one for the ages - a true testament to commitment and devotion.
In addition to her loving husband, Mary is survived by her niece Mona (Greg) Ryan; sister Charlotte (B.J.) McKnight; sisters-in-law Francis Cook and Jean Milner; and a vast host of other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her her parents; sisters-in-law Theo McClemore and Pat Brandau.
A visitation will be held in honor of Mary C. Rhodes on December 23, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Pelahatchie Baptist Church located at 300 Church Street in Pelahatchie, MS. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location starting at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to attend as we celebrate the remarkable life of Mary. After the funeral service, Mary will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery.
Mary C. Rhodes was a beacon of light in our lives who spread love and joy wherever she went. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts as we carry her spirit with us. Though we mourn her loss deeply, let us also celebrate the remarkable woman that she was and the tremendous impact she had on all who knew her.
