Mary Sanderson

Mary Faye Collum Sanderson of Brandon, Mississippi, went home to be with her Lord on June 14, 2015, at the age of 81. She was born in Fannin, Mississippi, on May 16, 1934 to J. B. and Minnie Bell Collum.
Mary attended Hinds Junior College, Millsaps College, and Belhaven College where she studied to be a teacher. She married Claiborne Ted Sanderson on May 29, 1954. Blessed with seven children, they were actively involved in their children’s lives. As a devout Christian and charter member of the Brandon Baptist Church, Mary’s faith profoundly influenced each of her children.
A devoted mother and loving wife, “Jama’s” vivacious spirit illuminated all of our lives. Mary loved spending time at the family farm with her children and grandchildren. She taught them responsibility, the value of hard work, sportsmanship, compassion, and how to receive God’s blessing through nature.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Claiborne Ted Sanderson, her parents, J.B. and Minnie Bell Collum, her sister, Elizabeth Jean Collum, and her great-grandson, Ryley Scott Sanderson. Mary is survived by her sisters, Jimmie Foreman Burnette, Bobbie Collum, and Martha Prince, and her children, Sandy Swigonski (Mark), Kandy Mason Clay), Ted Sanderson (Sherry), Lynda Hobson (Jerry), Jean Sanderson, Joe Sanderson (Heather), and Mary Martha Baumann (Jason). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at Brandon Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 17, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at Ott & Lee in Brandon on Tuesday, June 16 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and also prior to the funeral service at Brandon Baptist Church on Wednesday, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Mary will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brandon Baptist Church, 2700 Hwy 80 East, Brandon, MS, 39042.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Swigonski, Joe Sanderson, Lance Shelton, Frank Swigonski, Brock Sanderson, Jake Bramlett, and Michael Sanderson.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Billy Foxx Swilley, Tom Kennedy, Buck Foreman, Bob Foreman, Kennie Prince, John Moore, Joey Orr, Fon Campbell, and Charles Dixon.
