Mary Catherine Tagert

Mary Catherine’s favorite way to express love was through cooking. She loved to cook for all her children and especially the grand babies. Mary Catherine truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; gardening with Sidney, going to Walmart with her girls, bragging about her babies, and talking on the phone with her sisters.

Mary Catherine was preceded in death by her parents Louise and RC Westbrooks; her husband of 56 years, Sidney Tagert; one brother, Pete Westbrooks; and her grandson, Brandon McCurdy. 

She is survived by her siblings; Betty Rhodes (Jimmy), Sarah Stewart (Billy Lee), Kenneth Westbrooks (Cherri); children; Lisa McCurdy (Billy), Linda Huff (Jim), 

Laurie Goldman (Bruce), Cathy Lum (Sidney); and grandchildren.

 Lauren Jones (Scott), Hannah Alexander (Will), Austin Brunt (Claire), Trevor McCurdy (Rachel), Courtney Smith (Brandon), Blake McCurdy (Kennedy), Jacob Goldman, and eleven great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Austin Brunt, Trevor McCurdy, Blake McCurdy, Will Alexander, Jacob Goldman, Brandon Smith, and Scott Jones.

Services will be led by Brother Paul Smith at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Morton. Visitation will be Friday,  May 10, 2024, 5:00-8:00pm and 10am-11am Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00am from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton. The graveside service will follow at Rehobeth Baptist Church.
