Mary Dell Wilson, 82, a resident of the Leesburg Community in Rankin Co. died Friday, June 10, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, MS. Funeral services were held 2 pm Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Leesburg Baptist Church with burial in the Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held 6-9 pm Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Rev. Joseph Oster, Rev. Michael Giles, Rev. Marshall Presley and Rev. Bobo Phillipson officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wilson was a native of the New Home Community near Ludlow, and a longtime resident of the Branch Community near Morton and a resident of the Leesburg Community Rankin Co. for the past 7 years. She was a longtime member of the Branch Baptist Church. She was the daughter of Sullivan and L.C. Waggoner Latham. She was married to James Odis Wilson. She will be remembered by her family as the cornerstone of our family and one of God’s greatest creations. She will be missed by all that knew her. Her hobbies were working in her garden and flowerbed. She was known for her dressing and chocolate pies. She enjoyed traveling and going to as many gospel singings as she and Odis could fit into their full schedule. She was extraordinary woman who touched many lives and will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents, Sullivan and L.C. Waggoner Latham, former husband, Mitchell G. Measells, grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher Measells, sister, Fontaine Wall, brothers, John D., Rex, Kelly and Joe Latham, and step-son, David Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, James Odis Wilson of Leesburg; daughters, Mary Ann (Farrell) Madison of Morton and June (Charlie) Harrell of Morton; sons, Mark (Bobbie) Measells of Morton and Glen Measells of Morton; step-daughter, Glenda (Ray) Moore of Pelahatchie; step-son, Gene (Patricia) Wilson of Pelahatchie; step daughter-in-law, Kathy Wilson of Morton; sister, Faye Brewer of Lena; brothers, Charles Latham of Ludlow and Jimmy Latham of New Home; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, 2 step great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Brian Measells, Chase Measells, Landon Measells, Greg Bilbro, Richard Noel and Cody Harrell.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Michael Presley, Mitchell Presley, Ryan Wilson and David Hall.
