Mary Grace Parsons

February 20, 1941 — March 25, 2014

Mary Grace Hales Parsons, 73, a resident of Palestine, TX died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Funeral services were held 2 pm Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Polkville United Pentecostal Church with interment in the Piney Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held 5-8 pm Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 12-2 pm Saturday at the church. Rev. Ken Byrd and Rev. Barron Price officiated. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. Parsons was a native of Smith County. She was the daughter of Luther D. Hales and Ruby Traxler Hales. She worked for the USDA for over 32 years. She enjoyed flowers and working in her flower beds. She loved her family and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Ms. Parsons was preceded in death by her parents Luther D. and Ruby Traxler Hales; her siblings, Sally Chandler, Merle Hales and Lavone Hales; daughter, Lanette Greene and her grasndson, Mark Rogers.
Ms. Parsons is survived by her daughters, Kim Byrd Chambers and husband Keith of Brandon and Cindy Walker and husband Billy of Palestine, Texas; brother Tim Hales and wife Sue of Polkville; and sister Mae Deene Easterling also of Polkville; grandchildren Ken Austin Byrd, Kristy Leigh Thompson, Lance Phillips, Melissa Nicole Phillips; great-grandchildren Michael Byrd, Landon Phillips, Cynthia Phillips, Luke Phillips, Lakota Phillips; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Special thanks to her nephew, Jimmy Easterling, for his love, care and concern.
Serving and honoring Ms. Parsons as pallbearers were Jimmy Paul Easterling, Ken Austin Byrd, Greg Bradshaw, Mike Hales, Eugene Pace, Edward Traxler, Travis Pratt and Justin Crane.
