Mary L. Clark Lewis

Mrs. Mary L. Clark Lewis, age 88 and a former resident of Morton passed away at her home in Crystal Springs on April 7, 2016. Funeral service was held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:00 am from the chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Visitation was held on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 5:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home with interment at the Morton Memorial Gardens in Morton.
Mrs. Lewis was born on June 23, 1927 in Waco, TX to Mr. and Mrs. John W. and Ima J. "Wright" Clark. Her hobbies included crocheting, fishing, coloring pages for the hospice ministry personnel, family and friends. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist church in Monticello, but was also formerly a member of Harmony Baptist and First Baptist Church of Morton. She was a Christian woman, who had a sweet spirit and a very compassionate woman towards others. Mary had a deep love for all people especially to the young people of the church were she was supportive and giving to them for their church trips and special functions. Mary for the past few years enjoyed country living with her family and being outdoors fishing and she would jump pond to pond searching for just the right "catch" of fish for the day. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents John W. and Ima J. "Wright" Clark; her sister, Bonnie Gardner; brothers, Aubrey Clark, Joe Clark, Ted Clark and James Clark; and her husband, John R. Lewis.
She is survived by her children, Billy R. Yates (Lori) of Pearl MS, Wayne Yates (Nancy) of Morton MS, Ricky Yates of Brandon MS, Wade Yates (Shelia) of Crystal Springs MS, and a very special son, Keith Smith of Crystal Springs MS; and special other daughter Linda Belen; her sister, Juanita Gould of Morton, MS; grandchildren, Kimberly R Yates, William Eddie (Tara) Yates, Timothy Wayne (Renee) Yates, Stacey L (Eddie) Smith, Shanda M Yates (Yancy) Burns, Sharon Turnage, and Ashley M Yates Smith; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Smith and Jamie White; great-grandchildren, Kara Yates, Jarrett Yates, William T Smith, Zachary T Smith, Evan W Burns; step-grandchildren, Addison White, Eli White, Joseph Tucker, Eathen Smith, Christian Pearson, Kalie Smith, Chance L Yates, Jonathon 'Blake' Yates, Cameron Lane Yates.
Serving as pallbearers were David Hollingsworth, Mark Torrence, Nicky Crapps, Jay Yates, Eddie Yates, Tim Yates and Jeff Herring.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Morton.
