Mary Aline Rankin Winstead

Mary Aline Rankin Winstead, 67, suddenly went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 16, 2012 after sustaining injuries in an automobile accident. Visitation will be Monday, June 25, 2012 from 6 – 8 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS and 10:30 am Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Star Baptist Church in Star, MS. Funeral Services will be at 11 am at the Church with burial to follow in Star Cemetery.
Mary grew up in Magee/Kennedy Springs, MS and had been a resident of Star for most of her adult life. She was very active in her Church (Star Baptist) and in the community. Mary will be remembered for her infectious smile and her love for her family and friends. She loved animals and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. Mary generously arranged and placed flowers in the Church Sanctuary on many Sunday mornings. Mary was the primary caregiver to her Mother, who lived with her, and was “Memaw” to her grandsons. She will be missed by many.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Jasper Nelson Rankin and brothers James Carney Rankin and Richard Stevie Rankin.
Mary leaves behind her loving husband of 38 years, Albert Ross Winstead; two daughters, Selina Rayner (Dwayne) and Tanya Watts (Ronnie); grandsons, Hunter Watts, Nathan Rayner and Dylan Rayner all of Star, MS; her Mother, Cecil Louella Ware Rankin of Star; brothers, Clinton Gillette Rankin (Mabel) and Johnny Carnell Rankin (Lisa) both of Magee, MS; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tina Rankin of Richland, MS, Billie Jo Chapman of Brandon, MS, Jean Brown (Billy Ray) of Cato, MS, JK Winstead (Linda) of Mendenhall, MS; Virginia Ann Smith (Robert) of Slidell, LA, and Phillip Winstead (Mary Frances) of Flowood, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
