Mary Sue Hammons, age 87, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Monday, March 28, 2022, from the Leaf River Baptist Church with an interment to follow in the Pineville-Leaf River Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Holmes will officiate and Bro Danny Dickerson will provide the music. Visitation will begin at 1pm at the church prior to the service. OTT & LEE Funeral Home of Forest is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hammons was born on January 16, 1935, in Smith County to her parents M.M. Bounds and Ora Russum Bounds. She was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church in Forest. She was a chicken farmer along with her late husband for many years, which allowed her to be at home with her children, She loved being with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Elvin Hammons, Jr.
Survivors include her children; Wade Hammons of Forest, Kerry Hammons also of Forest, Melissa Sartor (Randy) of Taylorsville, and Scott Hammons (Sherri) of Lake. She leaves behind a legacy of 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Larry Driskell, Cody Crenshaw, Chad Hammons, Dustin Richmond, Trenton Wilson, and Nicholas Brown.
