Marzelle "Marty" Gunn

March 27, 1934 — December 14, 2015

Funeral services for Mrs. Marzelle “Marty” Gunn will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from the Ott & Lee Chapel with Rev. Larry Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in the Piketon Community under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.


Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 am – 10:45 am at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.


Music will be provided by Mrs. Natalie Emmons, Mrs. Nicole Smith, and Mrs. Amanda Bankston.


Marzelle Gunn was born in Scott County on March 27, 1934 and passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson at the age of 81.


She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of Christ, who enjoyed reading her Bible and attending church as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Favorite past times were growing flowers and cooking. She will be remembered as a selfless person who loved her family very much. Her legacy of love will live on through the lives those she came in contact with.


She was preceded in death by her parents: Clifton & Annie Mae McGee Brown; two sisters: Agnes Pettigrew and Mae Neece Goodson; and one brother: D.L. Brown.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years: Marshall T. Gunn of Forest; four daughters: Eva Allen of Philadelphia; Sherry (Ricky) Waltman of Lake; Marsha (Andy) Boyte of Forest and Melissa Gunn of Pearl; two sons: David (Elizabeth) Gunn and Bruce Gunn, both of Forest; five sisters: Barbara Jean Gunn of Forest; Linda Henry of Pulaski; Dianne Bell of Forest; Donna Tucker of Philadelphia; Hilda Croxton of Denham Springs, LA; one brother: Larry Brown of Morton; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Chris Stewart, Brian Waltman, Eric Gunn, Jordan Gunn, Kyle Boyte, Caleb Scharer, Steve Wilbourne, Logan Scharer, Howard Mitchell, Michael Fortin, Chris Bankston, and Jesse Lang.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
