Massalee Dorothy Smith Courtney, 89, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Brandon Nursing and Rehab. Visitation is 9 am Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Lamar County. Services are 11 am Tuesday at the church with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Courtney was a native of Jackson County and a resident of Brandon for the past 4 years moving from Sumrall. She retired as a Seamtress at Movie Star, Inc. in 1985 after 48 years of sewing service. Mrs. Courtney was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Lamar County and was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar (Little Man) Courtney in 2002 and grandson, Roger T. Savell, II in August 2012.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Crumbley (Danny) of Pearl; sons, Greg Courtney (Angie) of Sumrall, Reggie Courtney of Sumrall and Jr. Courtney of Sumrall; brothers, Al Smith of Hixson, TN, Gene Smith of Moss Point and Woodrow Smith (Bonnie) of Grand Bay, AL; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
