Matilda Guerra Fitch, 84, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Highland Home in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be 4-8pm Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Services will be 2pm Wednesday at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, MS with visitation starting at 11:30am until 1:45pm prior to service. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, MS.
Matilda was born in Texas on December 11, 1929 and was the last living of seven children. She was a member of Crossgates United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS and a former member of First United Methodist of Columbia and Baylis Chapel United Methodist in Columbia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jackson Fitch and granddaughter, Christie Fitch.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Sarah Jean Fitch and her husband, Alvin Swiney, Sandra J. Fitch, Charles Jackson Fitch and his wife, Gayle, and Alta Richardson and her husband, Rick; 4 grandchildren that affectionately knew her as “Tildie”, Melissa Fitch Campbell, David C. Legrone, Laura Loftin Wilcher and April Swiney; 3 great grandchildren, Tristan Wilcher, Lacey Wilcher and Cyrus Campbell.
