Mrs. Mattie Louella Palmer, age 79 entered into her eternal glory Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Funeral service was held Friday, April 8, 2016 at 10:00 am from the North Morton Baptist Church with Bro. Jessie Prestage and Bro. Aaron Wood officiating the service. Visitation was held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton and again on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 09:00 am until 9:45 am at the church.
Mrs. Palmer was born February 20, 1937 in Drew, MS to Mr. and Mrs. William Herbert and Louella "Dearman" Hall. She spent her life being a servant to all and one of the ministries she was involved in was an intercessory prayer ministry and she also was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a "nurse and a care taker" to all; she ministered to anyone whom needed her. She was a Christian by faith and a member of the North Morton Baptist Church in Morton MS.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Palmer; her daughter, Teresa Darlene Palmer; her son-in-law, Mike Westberry; her granddaughter, Teresa Ann Thomas; and twelve siblings.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by her children; daughters, Sandra Johnston (Lamar) of Pearl, MS and Linda Westberry (Mike-deceased) of Morton, MS; and son, James Palmer (Sherry) of Morton, MS; one sister, Shirley Rushing of Natchez, MS; seven grandchildren, Richard Johnston, Timothy Johnston, Brian Massey, Shawna Chambers, Justin Westberry, Jennifer Johnson, and Amanda Goss; eighteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Richard Gregory, Leland Burchfield, Doug Sanders, Scott Thomas, Donald O'Cain, and Clay Howard.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Morton, MS.
