Mrs. Mavis Earle Martin, age 87, a resident of Morton passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the University Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation was held from 10am-12pm Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Graveside services were held 2:30 pm Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Jackson. Rev. John Miles officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mrs. Martin was born in Ruleville, MS. She worked many years with the United States Postal Service as a clerk. Mavis was known as a very fun and loving person that always had a smile on her face. One of her favorite things to do was to create her afghans. She was a wonderful mother and loved her children and grandchildren very much. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Earle Maddux Atkinson.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Blake B. Martin; her 5 children, Cynthia L. Gordon (Otis) of Brandon, Patricia R. Schade (Mike) of Venice, FL, Linda J. Beagle (Michael) of Readyville, TN, Ann E. Cejka of Homer, GA and Evelyn F. Martin of Panama City, FL; 5 grandchildren, Barry Gordon, Gina Ladner, Ryan E. Martin, Matthew Beagle and Matthew Cejka; 9 great grandchildren, Blake and Tyler Gordon, Gage and Gray Ladner, Blake and Ava Martin, Mason Beagle, Keira and Sidney Cejka and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Barry Gordon, Blake Gordon, Michael Beagle, Ryan Martin, Matthew Beagle and Mike Schade. Honorary Pallbearers were Otis Gordon and Matt Cejka.
