Max L. Sargent
Morton Max L. Sargent, 84, a resident of Brandon passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services were conducted at 2pm Saturday, November 19, 2011 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS with interment in the Eastside Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelahatchie, MS. Visitation was held from 5pm to 9pm Friday, November 18, 2011. Rev. Dwayne Miller officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Sargent grew up in Strawberry Point, IA. Where he worked with his parents on the farm until he went in the Army in 1953. While serving in the military in Korea from 1953-1955 he served with the 623rd Field Artillery and was the Jeep Driver for the Battalion Executive Officer. Upon his return to civilian life, he took up the profession of truck driving. He later retired and has been a resident of this area the past 14 years. He was a Baptist and a member of the VFW Post in Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Leroy and Hazel Allen Willerton Sargent Mr. Sargent is survived by his wife Irene Sargent of Brandon, three step children Sandra Hodum and her husband Danny also of Brandon, James Martin of Pelahatchie and Gloria Wilkins of the Leesburg community. Mr. Sargent also leaves behind seven step-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Danny Hodun, Shane Byrd, James Verney, Drew Franklin, Brian Jones and John Allen.
