Maxine Gilbert Brantley, born October 31, 1943, in Lena, Leake County, MS, entered the arms of her Savior surrounded by love and faith. She leaves a legacy of kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith in God that touched everyone who knew her.
Maxine is survived by her devoted husband of 19 years, Jimmy Brantley, and her cherished family: her children Darryl Morrow (wife Chrissie Morrow), Angie Williams (husband Hoyt Williams), and Daniel Morrow (wife Archana Belani Morrow), as well as her stepdaughter Jessica Stafford. Her beloved grandchildren Jordan Parchman (husband Zach Parchman), John Hoyt Williams, Rivers Williams, Kaylie Stevens (husband Austin Stevens), Kelsie Stafford, and Keegan Stafford brought her immense joy, as did her great-grandchildren Sadie Marie Parchman and Whitley Grace Stevens. She was joyfully awaiting the birth of her grandson, son of Archie and Daniel, who will grow up with her love in his heart. Maxine’s memory will be forever treasured by her sister, Mae Parker (husband Alton Parker), her brothers H.B. Gilbert (wife Mary Lou) and Reverend Ronnie Gilbert (wife Diana Gilbert), and her countless nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Boswell and Claudia Gilbert; her twin brother, Max Gilbert; and her brothers, Billy Wayne and Jerry Gilbert.
Her strong work ethic was instilled in her from childhood. In high school, she was a talented basketball player and went on to work hard and excel in every other role she took on. From her time running her own upholstery business, skills she later taught to other women, Maxine was the epitome of selflessness, living her life as a testament to Christ’s love. She embraced everyone she met with open arms, and her joy and laughter were truly contagious. To know Maxine was to experience a love that knew no bounds. Her radiant smile and compassionate spirit reflected her deep faith, which guided her every step. She devoted her life to Jesus and others, leaving behind a remarkable example of grace, humility, and boundless generosity.
Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we rejoice in the knowledge that Maxine is now at peace in the presence of her Lord. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.
