Maxine Rivers

July 17, 1927 — January 5, 2014

Maxine May Rivers, 86, passed away Sun. Jan. 5, 2014 at The Arbor in Ridgeland, MS.
Visitation will be held Wed. Jan. 8, 2014 from 10am-11am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm on Wed. Jan. 8, 2014 at the Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Quitman, MS.

Mrs. Rivers was born in Quitman, MS and lived in Union, MS where she graduated from Union High School. She lived in Jackson, MS where she owned and operated Herb’s Frame Shop until her retirement. After retiring she moved to Brandon, MS in 2001 where she was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Mrs. Rivers enjoyed gardening and working with flowers, but most of all she was a talented artist and loved to paint.

Mrs. Rivers is survived by her sister, Betty May Bowles of Brandon, MS and her niece, Connie Crenshaw Shoemaker (Paul) of Terry, MS. She is preceded in death by her husband, John H. Rivers; her parents, D.C. & Ernestine Boykin May and her sister, Marlyn May Crenshaw.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mississippi Museum of Art at 380 S. Lamar St. Jackson, MS 39201.
