Visitation: 5-8pm Friday, November 22, 2013, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS

Serivce: 10am Saturday, in the chapel of the funeral home

Interment: Lakewood Memorial Park, South on McClure Road


May Ola Patrick, age 86, joined her “Beloved Grover” in God’s garden Wednesday, November 20 at Belhaven Senior Care. Visitation is 5-8 pm Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Richland. Services are Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the funeral home with burial in Lakewood South Cemetery. Rev. Paul Smith will officiate.

May Ola was a native of Rankin County, a longtime resident of Jackson, MS and a member of Central Baptist Church of Byram. She always made sure her family had clean clothes and hot home cooked meals. She was known as her father Lemuel’s biscuit maker and her grandchildren always called her “Mamaw Molar.” Her family quotes, “We always started out every morning with hot biscuits and some of dad’s homemade jelly or jam. We were taken to church and taught to treat other people as we would like to be treated.”

May Ola was preceded in death by her parents, King Lemuel Smith and Nona Bell Smith; brothers, Van J. (Buddy) Smith, Louis Smith and Nolan (Popi) Smith; sisters, Catherine Franklin, Epsy Naomi Everett and Frankie Paulette Thompson.

Survivors include her daughter, Rita Carey (Thomas) of Florence; son, Timothy Patrick (Polly) of Forkville and James Palmer of Missouri; sisters, Juanita Meek of Morton, Nora Smith of Rehobeth, Noni Cecile Norris (Julius) of West Wego, Louisiana; brother, K. L. Smith, Jr. (Betty) of North Carolina; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
