Emma McDollen Key Barnes, 88 of Forest, passed away on February 29, 2016, at Lackey Hospital in Forest.
Mrs. Barnes began her career as a bookkeeper at Gatewood Wholesale. She later worked at Little Princess Foods along with her husband, Pat, until her retirement. She was a member of Forest Baptist Church where she served in the Nursery for over 25 years. McDollen cherished spending time with her family and friends. She was a woman of noble character and had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed in her home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Pat Barnes, Sr., her parents, Thomas and Annie Key, her brother Eugene Key, sister Myrtle McCraney, and a daughter-in-law Martha (Hollingsworth) Barnes.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by her son, Walter Pat Barnes, Jr. and his wife Gay Gaddis Barnes, a daughter Paula Barnes Brown and her husband Darrell; two sisters, Dymple Winstead and her husband, John Billy, of Forest; Ann Gregory of Albertville, AL . Mrs. Barnes also leaves a legacy of five grandchildren: Lance Wooten, Alan Barnes, Asa Barnes, Keith Brown, and Kevin Brown, along with three great grand-children.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. that morning at Forest Baptist Church with interment in Eastern Cemetery. Dr. Scott Fortenberry and Dr. Joe Pate will officiate with Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Forest in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be: Alan Barnes, Keith Brown, Kevin Brown, Asa Barnes, Nicholas Derrick and Chet Barnes.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to relatives, friends, neighbors, sitters, Dr. J.P. Lee, and S.E. Lackey Convalescent Home staff for their love and support during Mrs. Barnes’s illness.
