Melvin Warner Stamper
Services for Melvin Warner Stamper, 87, will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at
10 a.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Forest with burial in the Conehatta Methodist
Cemetery with Revs. Becki Smith, William Savell and Benny Napier officiating. Visitation
will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Stamper, of Lawrence, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at Bedford Care Nursing Home in Newton.
Mr. Stamper was a U. S. Veteran having served in the Army during World War II in the European Campaign. During his service, he received the Bronze Star. He was a carpenter by trade and a
member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Ezelle; a son, Richard and his wife, Shelia of Decatur; a daughter, Kathy Stamper Neese and her husband, Paul of Hattiesburg. Two grandchildren, Adria Stamper Miles and her husband, Justin of Geismar, LA, and Nathan Stamper and his wife, Leanne of Flowood. Three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Hannah and Miriam Miles of Geismar, LA. Other survivors include one sister, June Nelson and her husband, Bernard of Petal and one brother, Purvis Stamper and his wife, Janice of Beech Island, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glover and Elma Addy Stamper; sisters, Maggie Lou Miley and Verna Pendergrast and brothers, Elton and C. A. Stamper.
Pallbearers are Nathan Stamper, Justin Miles, Milton Stamper, Tim Nelson, Royce Miley and
Leighton Ezelle. Honorary Pallbearers will be all other nephews.
