Ms. Melynda Diane Porter, age 43, passed away at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX on Friday, May 13, 2016. Funeral service was held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 10:00 am from the Two Mile Baptist Church in Morton, MS with the Rev. T. J. Porter presiding. Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton and again at the Two Mile Baptist Church on Wednesday from 09:00 am until 09:45am. Interment was at the Two Mile Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
Melynda was born to her parents Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Lee and Lynda "Easterling" Porter on February 9, 1973 in Jackson, MS. She was Baptist by faith. She worked for Goodwill Industries as an Associate Team Manager Trainer for many years. She enjoyed reading, fishing, and upholstery. She loved working on things fixing them and she also loved tanning and swimming. She loved being with her daughter and grandchildren. Melynda loved and adored her little dog "LiL'Man."
She is preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents and her father Fletcher Lee Porter.
Melynda is survived by her mother, Lynda Chrestman; her daughter, Heather Porter; her sister, Melissa (Manuel) Osada of Port St. Lucie, FL; her brothers, Michael (Briselda) Porter of San Antonio, TX, and Charles Chrestman of Los Vegas, NV; her grandchildren, Alijah Zachery James Porter and Jaylon Vencheal Parks; and her nephew, Justin Porter; and other family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Lynda Chrestman, Melissa Osada, Heather Porter, Michael Porter, Charlie Chrestman and Justin Porter.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee in Morton, MS.
