Michael Cash Medders, 8, gained his Angel Wings Friday, August 25, 2017. Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Monday, August 28, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Visitation will also be held Tuesday, August 29, 1-2 p.m., at Pinelake in Brandon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at Pinelake; graveside services following at Crestview Memorial Gardens, Cash’s final earthly resting place in the Garden of Matthew. Jesus said, “Leave the children alone and don’t try to keep them from coming to Me, because the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them.” Matthew 19:14
Survivors include his mother, Elisa McKinion; father, Shawn Medders; stepmother Brittany Medders; maternal grandmother, Linda McKinion; paternal grandparents, Harold and Elewese Medders; a host of aunts and uncles; Johnny and Due McKinion, Scott and Liza McKinion, Harry and Pam Medders, Paul and Wendy Smith; cousins Morgan McKinion, Peyton McKinion, Braylon McKinion, Breckyn McKinion, Chris Smith (wife Lezlie), and Brandy Medders; and host of great aunts and uncles and extended family on both sides of his loving family; close family friend Wes Shivers and daughter Brianna.
Predeceased family includes grandfather Johnny L. McKinion, Sr. “Big Pop” of Brandon, maternal great-grandparents, Howard and Birdie McKinion of Forest; maternal great-grandparents, Raphael and Emma Verucchi of Natchez; paternal great-grandmother Mamie Kugle of Ackerman.
Cash loved the outdoors, basketball, football, fishing, and riding his golf cart given to him by his Papaw Harold. He enjoyed riding his dirt bike, recently perfecting the biggest wheelie ever and mastering the clutch like a pro biker, a hobby and love he shared with his Daddy. Cash and his Daddy also adored going to car shows. Cash was a natural at deer hunting, a passion he shared with his uncles Scott and Johnny and cousins Peyton and Braylon. He harvested his first deer last season with his Mom, Wes and Brianna by his side. He loved Dak and all the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Family endearingly called Cash “Cash Man” and “Cash Money.” He was loved and adored by such a strong family and extended family, loyal friends, loving classmates, teachers, and staff at East Rankin Academy, and he was loved on by the entire community.
Family would like to offer their gratitude for all of the many calls, messages, visits and food. Special thanks to Sheriff Bryan Bailey and all the Deputies of the Rankin County Sheriffs Dept. for being there in our time of need.
