Michael Ben Holloway

Michael Ben Holloway, Sr., passed away on June 10th, 2013 at his home in Florence. He was a revered businessman for most of his life, owning both Vicksburg Cycles and the now closed Southern Sports Center in Richland. Privately, Mike was the dependable son of Dr. Dale and the late Patricia Lucas Holloway, a doting husband to his wife of almost thirty-five years, a prudent father to his 2 children and a caring mentor to all of his friends. His absence has created a void which will never be filled.
Mike was born in Columbus on October 14th, 1955 but lived in the Florence area for over fifty years. He graduated from Florence High School in 1973 and married Kay Phillips in 1978. He worked at Taylor and Jeanes, a Detroit Diesel distributor, for 13 years before opening his first motorcycle repair shop in 1990. He was also a deacon at Gunter Road Baptist church in Florence.
He leaves behind: his wife Kay, of Florence; his son Ben and daughter-in-law Kathryn, of Jackson, WY; his daughter Kristin, of Florence; his father Dr. Dale Holloway and step-mother Ann, of Florence; his brother Dr. Lewis Holloway and wife Karen, of Starkville; his sister Kim Holloway, of Seattle, WA; his sister Jenna Holloway Cochran and husband Shawn, of Brandon; and seven nephews.
Visitation was Friday, June 14, 2013 from 5-8 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS. Funeral Services were Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11 am from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Cleary Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Gene Jordan and Dr. Dale Holloway, Sr. officiated.
