Michael Frank Varga, Sr., 93, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson, MS. Visitation was 1pm – 2pm Saturday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, with graveside services at 3pm at McNair Cemetery in Mt. Olive, MS.

Mr. Varga was born in Endicott, NY July 20, 1921, to Jon and Victoria Andres Varga. He was a member of Pinelake Church. Mr. Varga worked for the Mississippi State Highway Department and he rendered the first two hand sketched scale maps of Jackson, MS.

He was a WW II Veteran of the Army in the 99th Infantry and fought in the Battle of the Buldge and he was a member of the Audubon Society.

Survivors include his daughter, Kay Swift (Dennis) of Columbia, IL; son, Michael F. Varga, Jr. of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Sara Hammock, Matthew Swift and Justin Varga; Great Grandchildren, Tyler Hammock, Katelyn Swift, Jacob Swift and Alexis Hammock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sammie Lee Varga; grandson, Chris Varga; sisters, Frances Lopke and Josephine Perry.
