Lane Bailey Morton Lane Bailey, age 18, a resident of Morton passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016. His visitation was 5-9pm Monday, November 21, 2016 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 8:30am to 1pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services were held 2pm Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial at Hodge Hill Cemetery. Coach Miles Porter, Coach Matt Boone and Coach Ty Weems officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Lane was born in Rankin County on September 10, 1998. He was a Junior at Morton High School where he was known for his funny, outgoing personality. Lane was a member of the Morton High School football team where he played Quarterback and Linebacker. He was voted State Farm Player of the Week 4 times in two years, First Team All District 2 years in a row for 2015 and 2016, voted Top Offensive Back for 2015 by the team and will be voted Top Linebacker Award for 2016. The memories of his #8 jersey on the field will never be forgotten. Lane also loved to play baseball. He played from a little kid and still enjoyed playing in high school. When it came to sports, Lane was an all around athlete. Lane enjoyed anything outdoors. He loved to deer hunt and fish. He was also known to many by his CB handle, jumpdog. Lane never met a stranger and never thought he was better than anyone. He loved his family very much and his nieces and nephews were his pride and joy. Lane was a dynamic student, athlete and friend to all. His memory will never be forgotten. His is preceded in death by his grandparents, J.C. and Betty Bailey and John Henry and Mary Ann Cockrell; aunts, Judy Bailey and Vickie Bailey. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Melissa Bailey of Morton; sister, Candace Holmes (Curtis) of Morton; brothers, James Michael Bailey (Ciera) of Morton and Justin Bailey (Stephanie) of Morton; grandmother, Sara Freeman of Morton; nieces and nephews, Lexie Vaughn, William Guy, Kaylee Vaughn, Preston Holmes, Rhyder Layne Bailey, Layla Bailey, Braxton Bailey and Alayna Bailey. Pallbearers were Kyle Porter, Austin Coward, Jeremy McCrory, James Michael Bailey, Luke Craig, Nick McCrory, Barrett Yount and Justin Bailey. Honorary pallbearers were Triston Yount, Jr. Hines, Tyler Derrick, Blake Fields, Colby McCrory, Dakota Lockert, Easton Porter and Kolby Gilbert.
