Mrs. Busick was born April 29, 1918 in Epley, Mississippi, to John Nicholas and Daisy Moon Bounds. She lived most of her childhood in Meridian, Mississippi and moved to Brandon in 1933 when she was 15 years old. Brandon remained her home until her death. She graduated from Brandon High School and from Draughan’s Business College.

She married Robert Richardson Busick, Jr. in 1940. They were married sixty-nine years
prior to his death in 2009. Two children were born to them-Robert Nicholas Busick and Carol Elaine Busick. Mrs. Busick was a member of First Baptist Church in Brandon for 71 years; then became a charter member of Brandon Baptist Church when it organized in 2003. In her early years she was very active in church and civic organizations. She was the junior department Sunday school superintendent for 13 years and was a member of the church choir for many, many years.

She served as chief deputy tax assessor for 13 years when Mrs. Mary Louise Adams was elected first woman to hold office in Rankin County. She later opened a ladies dress shop, “Mimi’s,” which she operated until her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed making new friends during the years that she worked with the public.

She was a devout Christian who loved and served God her entire life. She taught her children through example and was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved people and had many friends that she treasured dearly.
