Mildred Tivola Heflin, age 95, a resident of Canton, formerly of Lake, died Wednesday October 9, 2013 in Canton following a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30pm Saturday October 12, 2013 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment in the Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation was held from noon until service time. Rev. Ed McDaniel officiated the service and a Eulogy was given by June Nolen.
Mrs. Heflin was born in Vossburg, MS on August 12, 1918 to her parents Benjamin Forest Holland and Nancy A. Brasher Holland.
She was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and formerly of Sand Ridge Baptist Church and Lake Baptist Church. She had worked at Sunbeam in Forest prior to retirement. Mrs. Heflin was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers and 5 sisters; a son, James Wade Heflin and her husband, James Cyril Heflin.
Survivors include 3 children, Alice H. Cottrell (Tommy) of Canton, Annell H. Sharkey of Baton Rouge, LA and Wanda H. Brooks of Lincolnton, NC. She also leaves a legacy of 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Richard Compere, Richard Cottrell, Baker Hamm, Percy Wayne Everett, Clyde Carpenter and LaVelle Harrell.
