Mildred Johnson

August 1, 1929 — October 14, 2017

Mildred Everett Johnson, 88, of Brandon, Mississippi passed away peacefully on October 14, 2017. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 16, 2017, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Mississippi.  Burial will follow at the Everett Family Cemetery in White Oak, Mississippi.

Mildred was born to Joe and Effie Everett on August 1, 1929, in Rankin County.  She was diagnosed with Polio at the age of two. After multiple surgeries, she was finally able to walk at the age of eight.  Mildred was a former member of Post Polio Support Groups and always educated others on Post Polio Syndrome.   As well as a devoted wife and mother, Mildred was very influential in the success of the family business, Evan Johnson & Sons Construction Co.   She was most happy in her kitchen cooking for her family and gardening at her home. Mildred is a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Everett, and all five of her siblings. Also her infant daughter, Shirley Ann Johnson, her husband, Evan Johnson, her sons, Paul D. Johnson and Johnny W. Johnson, and her grandson, Jonathon Johnson.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Johnson Pitts (John Colette) of Ridgeland and Cindy Johnson Tarsi (Jeff) of Collierville, Tennessee.  She is also survived by her grandchildren of which she was most proud, Dr. Elizabeth Tarsi of Memphis, Tennessee; Andrew Paul Tarsi of Nashville, Tennessee; Amelia “Mia” Tarsi of Collierville, Tennessee and Donna Johnson Galloway (Jimmy) of Mobile, Alabama.

Her family wishes to thank her care taker, Pearl Taggart for her love and friendship. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Central MS Steel Magnolias Chapter, 103 Fairmont Plaza, Pearl, MS, 39208.
