Mira Frances Cochran
Forest
Mira Frances was born on March 13, 1918 and passed away June 19, 2012. She was born in Drew, MS and grew up in Harperville where she was active in the music ministry at Harperville Methodist Church for 84 years. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in music and went on to teach music to students for over forty years in Harperville, Walnut Grove, and Forest. Nothing delighted her more than to be in the presence of children and music. She touched the hearts of all she came in contact with through her kindness and compassion. She was an avid sports fan and had a special place in her heart for the Mississippi State Bulldog teams. You are only as young as you feel, and Mira Frances celebrated her 70th birthday in Rome. She went on to travel the world with her husband Charles sending postcards from wherever she went.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Walter Burns, Sr. and Mira Huddleston Burns, her brother Walter Burns, Jr., her first husband Hudson Hays, and her second husband James Charles Cochran. She is survived by her nephew Walter (Celeste) of Texas, great nephews William (Stephanie), Christopher, and Matthew, a great niece, Nicole, as well as all the students who came in contact with her in music class, recitals, and programs. For these students always held a special place in her heart. Maybe the quote, “I touch the future. I teach,” best expresses Mira Frances’s life. Services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the former Harperville Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, the funeral at 2:00 pm, with burial immediately following the services in the Harperville Memorial Park in Forest. Rev. Larry Patrick and Rev. Paul McDonald will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
