Morgan Rawls was born February 18, 1935 in Smith County. His parents were Warren and Alma Rawls, and he had one brother, Leon, and one sister, Fannie. Morgan lived his whole life in Smith County at Pineville. He worked for 18 years for Smith County, Beat 5 as a road construction worker. After that, he worked at the hatchery at Pineville, and later, as a night guard at Forest.
Morgan married Frances Nelson March 7, 1970, and there were married for 48 years when Frances died September 22, 2018. The Rawls were members of Leaf River Baptist Church. They had one daughter: Kathy (Wayne) Yeager; two grandchildren: David and Carol; three great-grandchildren: Korey, Hannah, and Carlie; four great-great grandchildren: Natley, Bright, Gia, and Leim.
Morgan was 85 years old when he passed at the Magee General Hospital on June 16, 2020 around 10:00 pm.
He was a kind and good man to everyone who lived a simple life. He will be missed.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pineville-Leaf River Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the funeral home and beginning at 9:00 am on Friday prior to the funeral service.
