Mr. Billie Ray Bowman, age 66, a resident of Greenwood passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Visitation will be held 10am-2pm Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Eureka Baptist Church. Graveside service will be 2pm Wednesday at Eureka Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Calvin Williams will officiate the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Bowman was born in Scott County on November 22, 1953. He was self employed, general contractor and his family stated, " he could take something that looked horrible and make it beautiful, that he was a great carpenter." Billie loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and just enjoyed working all the time. He enjoyed going to deer camp and spending time with all his friends there. Billie was a big jokester and loved his family very much. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Lee Bowman and Ana Lois Kyzar Payne and brother, Gary Bowman.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Taylor of Greenwood; 4 children, Mark Bowman (Melissa) of Brandon, Brittany Bowman (Tom) of Braxton, Josh Taylor (Randi) of Pinola and Brooke Bowman of Greenwood; sister, Melba of TN; step brother, Richard "Ricky" Payne of Lena; 4 grandchildren, Bruce Bowman (Becca), Ryan Bailey (Lauren), Erin Wallace (Kyle) and Hadley Taylor; 4 great grandchildren, Kenadie Bowman, Kaitlyn Grace Bailey, Addyson Wallace, Lake Wallace and 1 expected in January; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Bailey, Bruce Bowman, Bryant Parrish, Dill tucker, Chuck Elliott and Josh Taylor. Honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Walker.
Due to the Covid, Eureka Baptist Church does require masks to be worn inside the church and to please social distance. Limited number of people will be let in the church at different times per the deacons of the church.
