Mr. Lois G. Harrell, age 81, a lifelong resident of Morton, died Saturday August 15, 2015, at the St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday August 18, 2015 from Leesburg Baptist Church with interment in the Leesburg Baptist Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-9pm Monday August 17, 2015 and Tuesday August 18, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Rev. Joseph Ostner and Rev. Paul Smith officiated.
Mr. Harrell was born in Rankin County on January 22, 1934, to his parents Walter G. Harrell and Axie Torrence Harrell. He was a longtime faithful member of Leesburg Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. He had worked for the Mississippi Steel Corporation for 23 years and later the Rankin County Unit System until his retirement in 1995. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. His humble personality demonstrated his great faith in God, love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, June Harrell, three children; Brenda K. Babb (Charlie) of Brandon, Ricky Lois Harrell and Lynn H. Renfroe (Randy) all of Morton. He also leaves a legacy of 7 grandchildren; Brad Babb, Todd Babb, Ashlea R. Irby, Lance Renfroe, Ethan Harrell and Lindsey H. Knight, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brad Babb, Kris Knight, Paul Babb, Lance Renfroe, Ethan Harrell, Ty Irby and honorary pallbearer Todd Babb.
