Mrs. Barbara Johnson
February 14, 1932 — May 3, 2016
Barbara Kent Wright Johnson, age 84, a resident of Jackson, died Tuesday May, 3, 2016, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, following a brief illness.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 2pm Friday, May, 6, 2016, at the Tuscola Cemetery near Lena. Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest and again Friday from 1pm till 2pm at Tuscola Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Hamilton will officiate.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Scott County, to her parents, Costello Patrick Wright and Florine Denson Wright on February 14, 1932. She grew up in the Tuscola community where she was active in Tuscola Baptist Church. She and her husband later moved to Jackson. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton. She loved her family, enjoyed gardening, sewing and growing beautiful flowers. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Clyde Denson Wright, Orrin Austin Wright, Robert Neal Wright, C.R. “Dick” Wright and a sister; Mary Ruth Horowitz.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James “J.B.” Johnson of Jackson, one son, Jim Johnson (Sherri) of Terry, two sisters: Billie Wright Smallwood twin, of Canton and Claudine Denson of Lena. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Matt Johnson of Terry and Katie Armstrong of Wynnewood, OK.
Pallbearers are Jerry Thomas, Mark Horowitz, Jeff Armstrong and Andy Gallman.
