Lovelle Measells Presley, 92, died Monday, October 24, 2011, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Visitation was held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p. m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service was held 2pm Thursday, October 27th at Ott & Lee Funeral Home with burial in Ludlow Cemetery. Reverend Dwight Varner, her great nephew, was in charge of the service.
Mrs. Presley was born on December 14, 1918, in Ludlow, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Jesse D. Measells and Mary Irby Measells. She married Barney Clifton Presley in 1938 and, except for the last 10 years when she resided at Brandon Court, lived in the Coal Bluff community where she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and generous neighbor. A lifelong member of Ludlow Baptist Church, she enjoyed teaching the adult Sunday school class as well as working with the youth groups.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Presley was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Measells Westerfield, and her brothers, Nolan, Earl, and Jack Measells. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca King (Bernard) and her son, Jim Presley (Charlotte).
Also surviving her death are her much-loved grandchildren, Chuck King (Kris), Russell Presley, Karen Presley, Tony King, Kathy Smith (Chuck), Joe Presley (Kim), and Scott Presley. In addition, Mrs. Presley leaves behind nine great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ludlow cemetery fund, care of Ludlow Baptist Church, Lena, Mississippi.
