Mrs. Zola H. Tyree
August 5, 1924 — November 7, 2015
Zola Haralson Tyree, 91, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Madden Lighthouse. Visitation is 5-8 pm Monday, November 9, 2015 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest and 12:30 pm Tuesday at Harperville Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Harperville Baptist Church with burial in Harperville Memorial Park.
Zola was a native and had lived most of her life in Scott County. She had also lived in Meridian, Jackson, New York and Houston, Texas in earlier years. She was a member of Harperville Baptist Church and always enjoyed her Sunday School Class.
Zola loved to travel and play bridge, even reaching the bridge status of Diamond Master. She had the
opportunity to see many places around the world which also included taking family members and friends. Zola had a genuine love for people, especially for her family, church family and friends, always taking an interest in them, having a listening ear and being willing to invest in their lives. She also loved the companionship of her dog, “Little Man”, which gave her much enjoyment.
Zola will be missed by many, but her passion for living, her quick wit, her spirit of will and determination
against all odds, and her generous giving will live forever in the hearts of many that she touched. She
lived in Grace and died in Grace even to her final days at Madden Lighthouse-where they came to love
her so much. The family would like to thank the staff of Madden Lighthouse for their loving care and
tenderness. They would also like to thank her family, church family and friends for the warm friendship
and support that she received. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harperville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Elyse Russell of Suwanee, GA; son, John L. Tyree of Harperville; sisters,
Frances “Pamp” Brantley of Harperville and Sara Betty McAlpin of Forest; grandchildren, John David
Russell, Brent Russell and Chelsey Tyree. She is also survived by 2 great- grandchildren.
Zola was the fourth of six children and was preceded in death by parents, Hugh H. Haralson, Sr. and Zola
Cochran Haralson; sister, Thelma Bess Baggett; brothers, Hugh H. Haralson, Jr. and Willis “Bill” Haralson.
