Myrtis K. Mitchell, 84, passed away Wed. Feb. 2, 2011 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be held Wed. Feb. 2, 2011 from 5pm.-7pm. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS. Funeral Services are 10am. Thurs. Feb. 3, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS with interment following in the Glenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Richland, MS.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Simpson County, MS and has lived in Richland, MS since 1991. She was a very active member of the Richland First Baptist Church and was also a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Harrisville High School, loved working with flowers, and enjoyed writing in calligraphy. She was a devoted wife, mother, and a special friend to everyone she knew. Mrs. Mitchell is preceded in death by her sister, Lavelle Keen.
She is survived by her husband, Walter P. Mitchell of Richland, MS; her daughter, Brenda Welch and husband Richard of Pearl, MS; her son, David Mitchell and wife Ester of Jackson, MS; her brother, Burnis Miller of Harrisville, MS; three grandchildren, Chad Gallagher, Kristie Mitchell and Chris Mitchell and her two great-grandchildren, Shuna Gallagher and Aiden Mitchell.
