Myrtle Smith Scarbrough, 87, a resident of Polkville near Morton died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at home. Graveside services were held 10 am Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Polkville. Visitation was held 5-9 pm Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home. Rev. Aaron Safley officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangement.Mrs. Scarbrough was a native of Lynnhaven, VA. She worked as a secretary for AARP Pharmacy in Fort Worth, TX. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Polkville. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life.Mrs. Scarbrough was preceded in death by her parents, William Newcomb and Blanch Atkins, husbands, Gordon A. Smith, Sr. and Leslie L. Scarbrough, brothers, Wade, William and Joseph Newcomb, sister, Rosilee Osborne. Mrs. Scarbrough is survived by her daughter, Dee (Rev. John Clifton) Purvis of Polkville and son, Gordon A. (Betty) Smith of Magee; grandchildren, John Craig Purvis and Gordon Allen (Shelly) Smith of Magee; great grandchildren, John Craig (Cassie) Purvis, Jr. of TX, James Colton Purvis of TX, Sawyer Houston of Magee and Garrett Houston of Magee; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
