Nellie Ruth Goolsby, age 82, a resident of Forest died Saturday October 22, 2011 at Lackey Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Wednesday October 26, 2011 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment to follow in the Antioch-Steele Cemetery. Elder George Gardner and Dr. Jim Everett will officiate the services. Visitation was held frm 5pm to 9 pm Tuesday.
Mrs. Goolsby had worked in the poultry industry many years in the Forest area before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Ephesus Baptist Church. Mrs. Goolsby loved her grandchildren and had quite a collection of photographs of them. She also was a collector of “what nots” and enjoyed sharing them and telling stories behind them.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred Goss and Rossie Bradford Goss and three sons, Alvin A. Goolsby, Martin E. Goolsby, and Grover F. “Rod” Goolsby.
Survivors include six children, Mildred M. Risher, Iva Nell Wilcher and husband Danny all of Carthage, Sam Goolsby, Tony Goolsby and wife Mae Dean, Johnny Goolsby all of Forest, and Dorothy Goolsby of Madden. Mrs. Goolsby also had a special friend in Sammy Windham, because he was “special” to her daughter Mildred. She was also survived by one sister, Loretta Easterling of Bakersfield, CA. Mrs. Goolsby also leaves behind a legacy of 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are: Charles Wayne Goolsby, Johnny Ray “J.R.” Goolsby, Jessica Ruth (Goolsby) Dumas, Coy Wayne “C.W.” Kitchens, Amanda Lynn Goolsby, Leslie Nicole “Nikki Wilcher” Farmer, Michael Windham and Jessica (Derrick) Goolsby.
Services were provided by Ott & Lee Funeral home of Forest.
