Newell Ray Johnson

Mr. Newell Ray Johnson, age 91, a resident of Morton passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

Mr. Johnson was born on September 12, 1933, in Smith County, MS to Calar and Alma Drummond Johnson. Mr. Johnson started his own plumbing business that has been passed down for three generations. Newell was a Christian and a member of Faith Tabernacle Church, he faithful follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Newell was an avid hunter and fisherman, camping and watching football was some of his hobbies.

Preceded in death by his wife, Mattie M. Johnson; parents, Calar and Alma Johnson, and all siblings. Survived by his two children, Patricia Goss, her husband, James; Kenneth Johnson, his wife, Betty; six grandkids, fourteen great grandkids and two great-great grandkids.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 8:00pm Monday April 21st and Tuesday from 9:00am to 11:00am at Faith Tabernacle Church in Pulaski, MS. His Funeral will follow at 11:00am at the Church. Interment will be in Lingle Cemetery in Smith County.
