On March 17, Nola Davis Griffing received the greatest birthday gift, she was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She lived a life full of compassion, grace, and unwavering strength.
Nola was born in Ruth, Mississippi to Clifton and Nora Mae (King) Davis. Her childhood and teenage years were spent growing up at the Methodist Children’s Home in Jackson. Upon graduation from Brandon High School in 1964, she married the love of her life, the late William “Jiggs” Griffing, three days later.
She worked for Zurich Insurance and The Medical Clinic. Nola was a loving mother to her four children and doting grandmother to her 12 grandchildren. She was a devout member of Oakdale Baptist Church for many years. Her love for learning about the Bible lead her to travel to Israel and other parts of the Middle East. She enjoyed going on mission trips to Romania, singing in the choir, attending church events, and participating in various church groups throughout her life.
Nola is survived by her two sons, Ronnie Griffing (Tricia); Jon Griffing (Louise); and her daughter Bethany Lane (David). Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Tyler (Diane); Morgan (Shelton), Seth, Greenlee, Stellablue, Rainey Maize, Lilah, Gray, Wills, Jordan, Jorja, and Jaxon, as well as great-granddaughter, Riley. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Davis (Pat), and sister and best friend, Merle Baker, as well as a large extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jiggs, her daughters, Stephany Griffing and Jackie Evans, and grandson, David Lane, Jr. Her brother, James Davis, also preceded her in death.
Services will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 at Oakdale Baptist Church in Brandon. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with a service to follow. Burial will be immediately following at Oakdale Cemetery.
