Rev. Nolan Ray Mapp, 76, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2013. Funeral service are scheduled for 10:30 AM Friday, March 29, 2013 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS, with interment at McLaurin Community Cemetery, in McLaurin, MS, at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be Thursday March 28, 2013, from 5-8 PM, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Nolan was born October 25, 1936, in Forrest County. He was a retired minister and served the Lord for over 40 years and was presently a member of Walker Hill Baptist Church. Nolan was married to Gladys Annette Boutwell on July 20, 1954, and was married for 58 years. He served in the National Guard at Camp Shelby for eight years.
Nolan was a graduate, with honors, from William Carey College in Hattiesburg and a graduate of New Orleans Theological Seminary. He was ordained December 21, 1969, at Gautier First Baptist in Gautier, Ms, where he served as Assistant Pastor. Nolan pastored a mission church in Jackson county and was called to New Bethlehem Baptist Church at Magee, MS. Nolan returned to the coast in 1974, to pastor Unity Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS. Nolan with his family left Mississippi to serve in the Pioneer Mission field as pastor of First Baptist Church Montesano in Montesano, Washington and helped build a mission church at Elma Washington. On his return to the state he pastored at Colombia until he retired.
Rev. Mapp was preceded in death by his parents Major Darden Mapp and Ruby Audrey Mapp (Chandler) and one brother, Harry Garland Mapp.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Annette Mapp (Boutwell); daughter Hope Roby and son in law Mike Roby of Brandon, Ms; 2 sons Keith Ray Mapp and Harry LaVaughn Mapp of Brandon, Ms.; four grandchildren; Anita Payne, Gregory Dearing, Joshua Mapp, and Nicholas Mapp; and four great grandchildren.
