Odell Aycock Fortenberry, age 89, a resident of Morton passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation was held 5-9pm Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 2pm Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Morton Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Bro. Kenny Lang and Bro. Jerry Holmes officated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mrs. Fortenberry was born in Scott County on October 26, 1925. She loved going to church and attending gospel singings. Odell loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Price Is Right. She loved working in her garden,sewing and working Seek A Word puzzles. Odell loved her family very much and she will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Duncan Fortenberry; parents, Robert Hudson Aycock and Ophelia Bell McCollum Aycock; 2 sisters, Ethelene Wilson and Lilla Rigby; 3 brothers, Darrell Aycock, Jodie Aycock and David “Doodle” Aycock.
She is survived by her children, Charlotte Polk of Clifton and William Earl Fortenberry and wife, Dorothy of Morton; 2 sisters, Aldarene Polk of Morton and Marie “Ree” Babb of Morton; 7 grandchildren, Gary Cushman (Julie), Anthony Fortenberry, Frankie Fortenberry (Renee), (STEP), Judy Northway, Charlie Polk, Randy Polk (Carmen) and Kevin Polk (Heather); 18 great grandchildren, Brittany Shaw (Cody), Dustin Cushman, Shelby Cushman, Clara Traxler, Austin Fortenberry, Kimberly Fortenberry, Lashea Windham, Kaylee Fortenberry, Dixie Fortenberry, Gage Fortenberry, Noah Traxler, (STEP), Hope Hodges, Ashley Parker, Christin Polk, Joanna Polk, Alex Polk, Emilee Polk and Karlee Polk; 4 great great grandchildren, Kirstyn Traxler, (STEP), Tyler Clark, Brookelyn Hodges and Alexis Parker; a special family member, Albert Baker; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Ferrell Rigby, Larry Aycock, Kenny Aycock, Gene Wilson, Ellie Ray Stevenson and Don Stanley.
