LEESBURG


Mr. Ogden C. “Jack” Slade, age 90, a resident of Pelahatchie, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Ok. Visitation was held 5-8pm Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral Services were held 2pm Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Leesburg Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Joseph Oster officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Slade was born in Lena, MS. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army and served his Country in World War II. He received the ATO Medal, EAMETO Medal, Good Conduct Medal, a Purple Heart and the World War II Victory Medal. He is a member of the Morton Masonic Lodge #254 F & AM. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Hallie Mae Measells Slade and his 2nd wife, Beatrice Rushing Slade; son, Randy Slade; sisters, Lula Joyce Slade and Annie Slade; brothers, Davis Fulton Slade, Woodrow Frank Slade, Tom Gaddis Slade, Cliff Taylor Slade and Ezekiel Steen Slade.

He is survived by his daughter, Janith Fay Houpe (Mark) of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 grandchildren, Amy Houpe and Chance Houpe and a host of friends.
