Ola Purvis

Ola Mae Harris Purvis, age 82 and a resident of Forest, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 25, 2021 under the care and supervision of the staff and professional service of Bedford Care Center in Newton.

She was born on Wednesday, February 22, 1939, to her parents: Billark Harris and Myrtle Smith Harris, who precede her in death.

Ola Mae is now reunited with her paternal grandparents: Cyrus W. and Mary Alice Harris, and her maternal grandparents: Sam and Mollie Smith. Several siblings also preceded her in death, namely Sissy Harris, Edward “Budger” Harris, Prentis “R.F.” Harris, Clifton “Nub” Harris, Billie Rayner, Lois “Sister” McHand, R.C. Harris, and Roy “Sam” Harris.

Ola Mae was evident in everything she did. Her grace, courage and remarkable strength, left a mark on everyone she encountered. She carried an unconditional love for her family, whom she always loved to cook for, specifically fresh vegetables and fried chicken. Ola Mae enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds, shopping and always “being on the go.”

Survivors include her children: Wendell (Debbie) Morris of Lawrence; Doris (Randy) Mobbs of Magee; Loretta Lynn (Joe) Johnson of Magnolia, TX; Angela Sikes of Little Rock and Rena (Glenn) Walters of Laurel; grandchildren: Ladonna (Jason) Jones, Ashley Ferguson, Ken (Ashley) Warren, Brittany Walters, James Walters, Jo-Lynn Johnson, Madyson Mobbs, Shelton Porter, Shelia Johnston, Shane (Teresa) Johnston, and Dustin (Carlie) Dipuma; great-grandchildren: Anna (Randy) Steinkuehler, Morgan Stamper, Lexia (Keith) Rivers, Kaydence Ferguson, Lillie Johnston, Macey Ferguson, Carleigh Warren and Maddox Dipuma; one brother: Dairl Harris of Forest; one sister: Vera “Mollie” Lenard of West Monroe, LA; one sister-in-law: Sharon Harris of Mize; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews;

The family extends an invitation to join them to celebrate Ola Mae Purvis’ life at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 29, 2021, followed by a service in the chapel beginning at 3:00 pm. Ola Mae will be laid to rest in the Salem Baptist Cemetery at Lake.

Rev. Reggie Williams will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Warren, James Walters, Delton Harris, Shelton Porter, Willie Rayner and Mark Coats.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Mobbs, Shane Johnston, and Dustin Dipuma.

Ott & Lee Funeral Home, 295 East First St, Forest, MS 39074 is in charge of arrangements.
