Opal Dryden

Opal Marie Good Dryden, age 86 of Pearl, Mississippi passed on December 13th, 2024. 

Opal, lovingly known by her grandchildren as “Honey” was born on June 1st 1938 in Meadow Bridge, West Virginia. Throughout her life Opal was blessed with a giving heart and was known as the caretaker of her younger siblings and all those who were blessed to call her a friend. In her younger years, she was known as a firecracker and for being a passionate individual. She loved to dance, laugh, and was always ready for an adventure, which led her to eventually settling down in Pearl, Mississippi. She worked and retired from the VA of Jackson and spent her later years caring for her friends and loved ones. 

Opal was a member of the Park Place Baptist Church of Brandon, MS where she attended Sunday school and church. She also frequently participated in activities held by the Pearl Senior Center. Opal enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and friends, attending festivals, and never passed up an opportunity to dance. She was known as a social butterfly who was always willing to lend a helping hand, listening ear, or a warm deliciously cooked meal. She dedicated her life to caring for her loved ones and friends. 

Opal was preceded in death by her sons Micheal and Zan Reynolds, and husbands Loyd Reynolds, Harry Good, and John Dryden.

Opal is survived by her granddaughters Cristin, Ashton, and Zoe Reynolds and her daughter Quanna Swilley, grandson Robert Swilley, and her siblings Linda Sue Harris Tzystuck and Shirlene Becraft, and many wonderful loving and caring friends. 

A memorial service will be held in her honor at Park Place Baptist Church of Brandon, MS on January 5th 2025 at 3pm in the sanctuary. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
