Opal Munn Everitt, born on July 26, 1939, in Leesburg, Mississippi, left this world on January 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Paul Everitt; her parents, Robert Eugene and Jettie Franklin Munn; ten Munn siblings—Unice Audrey, Roy, Clotene, Nelda, Jack, Jestine, Olon, Nolan, Theresa, and Nina; nephews, Bobby Chestnut, Jeff Sullivan, and Eddie Munn; and nieces, Vivian Munn and Jackie Munn.
Opal is survived by her loving daughters, April (Mike) Harwell, Jean Everette, Mary (Bob) Bloodworth; treasured sister-in-law, Ruth Everitt Gray; and a beloved host of nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy in her grandchildren: Jace (Brittany) Harwell, Ryan (Emily) Lee, Andrew (Lauren) Harwell, Tripp Bloodworth, and Olivia Bloodworth. Opal's great-grandchildren, David Grant, Elijah Grant, Hadley Harwell, Harrison Harwell, John Hollis Harwell, and Jackson Lee, will continue to carry forward the memories of their vibrant and spirited grandmother.
Opal Munn Everitt found joy in the simple pleasures of life. With a career dedicated to selling fine jewelry for Migerobe - Belk Fine Jewelry, she brought elegance and grace to her professional endeavors. Opal had a passion for playing bridge, where she not only showcased her strategic skills but also formed lasting connections with friends.
Her zest for life was evident in her love for travel, trying new adventures, and organizing Grandma trips, taking her grandchildren on unforgettable adventures. Opal was a woman who spoke her mind, embodying loyalty and feistiness in all aspects of her life. She lived life fully, leaving behind a trail of cherished memories and a profound impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
In honoring Opal Munn Everitt's memory, let us celebrate a life well-lived and remember the indomitable spirit of a woman who embraced each moment with enthusiasm and courage. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and warmth she shared with those who were lucky to be part of her journey.
Visitation and services will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS, on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will be held immediately following the service at Floral Hills Memory Garden, Pearl, MS. Services will be officiated by Jerry Meggs, Pastor, Crestview Church, Kosciusko, MS.
