Mr. Opal Phillips, age 87, and a resident of Brandon, formerly of Polkville, passed away Wednesday, January 09, 2019.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2019 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Piney Grove Cemetery in Smith County.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:45 pm Saturday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
He will be remembered as a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather. His passion was gardening and sharing his harvest with others. He was the co-owner and operator of Farmers Market Gulf Service Station in Jackson, MS for over 50 years and a Christian by faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Merlie and Clemmer Hales Phillips and four brothers: Alfred L., Earl, Henry and Cecil Phillips.
Survivors include his wife: Mrs. Janell Phillips of Brandon; two children: Lisa Phillips of Brandon and Randy Phillips of Pearl; two grandchildren: Nathan Phillips and Mitchell Phillips; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
