Sunday, September 3, 2017, Opal Patricia Tate, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully left this earth for her heavenly resting place.
We would be honored by your presence at a celebration of her life on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation is scheduled at Ott & Lee Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 5, at 5:00PM-7:00PM and Wednesday, September 6, at 10:00AM-11:00AM. Graveside services will be held at the Hickory Cemetery in Hickory at 2:00PM.
Mrs. Tate was born September 8, 1931, in Newton County to Sam and Opal Lawson Everett. Most of her adult life she was a resident of Forest. She worked many years in retail utilizing her eye for fashion and style. Among her many talents and hobbies Pat was an expert seamstress and used her creativity to cross stitch beautiful pictures which we will always treasure. She loved gardening and decorating her home. Pat was a member of Forest Baptist Church where she regularly greeted church members with her beautiful smile. For years she organized and prepared meals for church gatherings and social events at the church fellowship center. She loved her church and community. Most of all, Pat Tate was devoted to her family and to living an honorable life. She enjoyed being with family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Pat and Sandy Everett. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lyle Tate, three children, Beverly Puckett (Tony) of Madison, Shelia Bosarge (Clyde) of Long Beach and Phil Tate of Madison; stepsons Lyle Tate, Jr. (Janie) of Brandon and Jimmy Tate of Houston, TX; sister Sandra Garvin (Larry) of Madison and brother Wadell Everett (Jackie) of Hickory. She leaves behind five grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
