Mr. Oppie Ray White, age 83, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton. Visitation was held 5-8pm Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 1-1:45pm Wednesday at Eastside Baptist Church. Funeral services were held 2pm Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Eastside Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Phil Evans officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. White was born December 1, 1933 in Rankin County. He loved his church and loved the Lord. Oppie was a deacon at Eastside Baptist Church in Pelahatchie and he believed in working at the church and keeping the grass cut there. He enjoyed carpenter work and had a major part in the building of his families homes. Oppie always enjoyed working in his garden and in his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ellis White; sons, Bob White, Donnie White and Johnny Bishop; sisters, Laverne Ingram and Bobbie Thompson; brothers, Lloyd White, Jack White, Lamar White and Ted White.
He is survived by his wife, Eva White of Pelahatchie; children, Mark White (Alix), Joey White (Katina) and Charlotte White (Ryan) all of Pelahatchie; sister, JoAnn Allen (Jack) of Pelahatchie; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; lots of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Chance White, Adam Champion, Cory Walsh, Jordan Bishop, Brady White, Ethan White, Logan White, Brandin Smith and Bryon Robinson.
