Otis Gordon, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Wed. Sept. 27, 2017 while under the loving care of his family after a brief battle with cancer.
Otis, a resident of Brandon, Mississippi, is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Cynthia Martin Gordon; his daughter, Gina Gordon Ladner and her husband, Gary Ladner; and his son, Barry Blake Gordon and his wife, Stephanie Shedd Gordon. Also left to celebrate his life are his four grandchildren, Blake and Tyler Gordon, and Gage and Gray Ladner.
Otis is also survived by his sisters, Neva Massey of Morton and Vera Mena of Quitman; his brother-in-law, Mack D. Owens; four sisters-in-law, Linda Beagle and her husband Mike Beagle, Pat Schade, Ann Cejka, Evelyn Martin and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Melissa Gordon; two brothers, Albert Gordon and Tommy Gordon and three sisters, Lela Gray, Ortis Owens and Bertha Gordon.
Born in Morton, Mississippi, Otis attended Clarksburg School in Morton and joined the Navy in August 1942, serving in WWII until December 1945, earning a commendation for exceptional bravery for service in a conflict with the enemy while attached to the ship SS Samuel Parker.
Otis retired from his position as Plant Superintendent of Gregory Manufacturing Company in 1989. Otis was an avid fisherman and hunter throughout his life and was frequently accompanied by his wife, his son, and his daughter.
Visitation will be held on Fri. Sept. 29, 2017 from 5:30pm-7:30pm and Sat. Sept. 30, 2017 from 11am-11:45am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 12pm on Sat. Sept. 29, 2017 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS. Pallbearers will be Blake Gordon, Tyler Gordon, Gary Ladner, Gage Ladner, Michael Beagle and Ryan Martin.
